Golden snitch lovey

I became a Harry Potter-fan, thanks to my oldest. It’s so much fun to make Harry Potter things!

I made the big Hedwig for my son, another version of her is here. I’ll post a pattern for the small Hedwig soon.

The golden snitch lovey is made with cotton yarn (175 yds/1.8 oz.) and a 2,5 mm hook. I used a lighter shade of yellow for the golden snitch, but you can use the same yarn for both if you want.

To make this one you follow the pattern for the blanket but stop after row 10.

Blanket
ROW 1: Crochet ch 3 and 10 dc in a magic ring with dark red yarn. Skip the ch 3 and crochet a sl st to the first dc. (10 st)
ROW 2: Ch 5 (the first ch 3 counts as a dc). *2 dc in the next 2 dc, ch 2*. Repeat *-* 4 times in total. 2 dc in the next dc, 1 dc to the last sl st of row 1. 1 sl st to the first dc of the row. (30 st)
ROW 3: Sl st to the next dc. Ch 3 (counts as the first dc, here and at the beginning of every row). *3 dc + ch 2 + 3 dc in the next ch-2 sp, 1 dc in the next dc, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in the next dc*. Repeat *-* 4 times in total. 3 dc + ch 2 + 3 dc in the next ch 2-sp, 1 dc in the next dc, skip 2 dc, sl st to the first dc of the row. (50 st)

ROW 2: 2 sc in every sc. (12 st)
ROW 3: 1 sc in the next sc, 2 sc in the next sc. Repeat. (18 st)
ROW 4: 1 sc in the next 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc. Repeat. (24 st)
ROW 5-9: 1 sc in every sc. (24 st)
ROW 10:
1 sc in the next 2 sc, 2 sc together. Repeat. (18 st) Stuff the ball.
ROW 11:
1 sc in the next sc, 2 sc together. Repeat. (12 st)
ROW 12: 2 sc together, repeat. 6 st. End with a sl st and sew the opening closed.

Wings (make 4)
ROW 1: Ch 7 with white yarn.
ROW 2: Crochet the following row in the front loops of the chain until you get to the end of the chain, continue crocheting in the back loops of the chain until you get back to where you started. 2 sc in the second front loop from the hook. 1 sc in the next 3 front loops. 2 sc in the next 2 front loops. 2 sc in the next back loop. 1 sc in the next 3 back loops. 2 sc in the next 2 back loops. (18 st) (If there is a gap in the middle of the starting chain: sew it closed from the wrong side.)
Continue crocheting in a spiral.

Take two wings and sew them together along the edge to make one wing, with the right sides facing out. Stuff just a little bit, the wing should remain flat. Make another one the same way. Sew the wings to the sides of the ball. Sew the golden snitch to the middle of the blanket.
