Little Amanita dolls

(Mönstret finns på svenska här)

I really like making star-shaped security blankets! This pattern is easy to make, it also has a tutorial on how to make the doll-hair.

You can use any type of yarn you want. I used cotton yarn that gives 160 m/50 g (175 yds/1.8 oz), a 3 mm hook for the blanket and a 2,5 mm hook for the other parts.

To make one of the dolls you need: red, white, and skin colored yarn, a bit of yarn for the hair in the color you want and black thread/yarn. A little bit of toy stuffing. (You also need grey yarn if you´re making the grey blanket). 50 g (1.8 oz) of each color is enough.

Doll hair

Cut pieces of yarn for the braids, they should be about 40-50 cm each (16-20 inches).
Take one of the yarn ends and fold it double. Insert the hook in one of the stitches on the head, yarn over and pull the yarn end through the stitch. Yarn over again (see picture 1.), pull both yarn ends through the loop and tighten.
Repeat this step until you have enough yarn attached to make braid.
Repeat the above steps on the other side of the head for a second braid. Cut shorter pieces of yarn for the bangs – attach them as shown in picture 2.
If you want you can comb the yarn to make it more hair-like (see picture 3.
Braid the hair, secure the braid with one of the yarn ends tightly. Cut the braid if needed. Picture 4. shows the hair when it´s finished. When you have the hat sewn on you can cut the bangs.

If you want a short-haired doll you attach the hair like you did with the bangs, but all the way around. (Cut the hair when you have sewed the hat in place.)

Assembly

Fill the hat with a bit of stuffing and sew to the head, over the hair.
Sew a face on the doll: a nose with skin colored yarn, eyes and a mouth with black yarn/thread. Fill the hat with a bit of stuffing and sew to the head, over the hair.

Stuff the arms, but not all the way up. Sew the openings of the arms closed and sew the arms to the bottom of the head as shown below.

Sew the doll to the middle of the star blanket, on the right side.
